How can I reach you?

E-mail [email protected] or text/call 919-525-1008. (Note that you will land in voice mail if you call; we do not have a phone in the studio space for sound reasons.) You can click through to directions to the studios here—Carrboro, Durham, Hillsborough—and from the footer at the bottom of every page.

Eek! Is my class pass/gift card going to expire during the COVID shutdown?

No! We have no expiration on pass cards or gift cards beyond the newcomer 3-class/30-day intro special, and we removed expiration on those specials that were ticking down when the shutdown began. We really look forward to seeing you on the other side of this!

Can I use my passcard for online classes?

Instead of running classes through the studio, we encouraged each teacher to host their own to maximize the benefit to them. Your passes will be safe waiting for you on the other side!

I am moving—can I get a refund on my remaining passes?

As per your receipt, class passes are nonrefundable. However, they never expire and they are transferable, so if you would like to give (or sell) them to a friend, write us with your friend’s name.

I’m new to yoga. Where should I start?

Great! Check out our New to Yoga page—don’t be shy!

When should I arrive?

Our doors open 10 minutes before each class starts.

We close and lock the main door to the office shortly after class begins, so budget a few minutes to arrive early.

We close and lock the main door to the office shortly after class begins, so budget a few minutes to arrive early.

Our front door is open while classes meet. If you are running late, check the room usage schedule by the door so you can find your class. If you do need to enter late, please wait quietly by the door until the class begins to move.

Where should I park? Rack my bike?

You can park anywhere in the South Green development. If the lot in front of our building is full, park behind the orthodontist’s office, to the right of the driveway as you enter. The covered bike corral is near our space, in front of Craftboro Brewing Depot.

There is a lot for our building on the south side of Hunt Street, facing the long side of the building, as well as ample street parking. After 5 p.m. and all day on weekends, you are welcome to park at the Durham Senior Center lot, directly across the street from our building. You’ll find bike racks on the east end of the building (to the right when you are facing the long side of the building, on Hunt).

You are welcome to park downstairs, along the street, or on the grassy lot to the right of the driveway. Please don’t block that lot, though, as we need it for overflow on weekend mornings.

What should I bring?

We have mats for you to borrow and all the props you might need. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat, if you like.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable that lets you move around freely and that doesn’t bunch up around your face if you expect to get upside down. We have bathrooms for changing if you’re coming right from work. And we keep a supply of emergency yoga clothes in case you forgot your gym bag.

Is your studio hot?

No. We offer room temperature yoga and, in classes where it’s appropriate (Flow Yoga, Intermediate Yoga, monthly Advanced Practice), guide you to build internal heat. In Sanskrit, we call this internal heat tapas—it’s different from the Spanish meaning!

How should I register?

We love for you to sign up online, which saves both you and us time. If something happens and you don’t show up for a regular class, we don’t charge you! (We offer refunds to account for workshop cancellations make 24+ hours in advance.) Signing up online will make for a quick check-in (just say your name), and will save your spot. You can also walk in and buy classes in person, of course, and our smiling desk staff is in place before bigger classes.

And you can use the MindBody app on your mobile device!

Can I have a taste before buying a class pass?

Our new student intro offer is 3 classes for $30, valid for 30 days. This lets you try out various classes and locations to find what suits you best, all for only $10/class. You’re also welcome to pay the regular drop-in rate if you want to start with a single class. We will still offer you the 3/30/30 special even if you have done one drop-in.

What’s up with that intro offer with code pricing option?

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!” This is for students who have received an email from the scheduling system.

Should I eat before class?

Not too much! There are many fantastic local eateries in walking distance to enjoy after class in Carrboro and in Durham.

Can I bring my kids?

Kids 13 and up are welcome in our adult classes. For younger kids, 10–12, please discuss with the teacher; if kid, teacher, and parent are on board and there’s an adult taking class with the child, they are welcome. Check out our kids’ yoga offerings, too.

For liability reasons, we don’t allow children to wait in the studio or in the lobby while classes run.

If I sign up online and can’t make it, what should I do?

Click Manage Schedule at the top of the page—you can cancel from there. If you find yourself away from the computer and can’t make it, don’t worry; when you don’t show up, your unused class reverts to your account.

Do you offer work-trade?

Yes, we do. We ask for a one-year minimum commitment and offer both desk and cleaning crew duties. Write us for details.

I’m a teacher. Are you hiring?

When we hire, we like to choose from among the folks who have been practicing at the studio regularly, as they understand the studio culture and student needs. We definitely extend our $13 student/teacher rate to yoga teachers! We also offer work-study options that give folks a good grounding in our studio procedures, which is a prerequisite for teaching here. Write us for details.

I’m in yoga teacher training. Can I observe a class?

We find that a nonparticipating student changes the class dynamic, so we do not allow class observations. If you’d like to see how our wonderful staff teach, you can find dozens of classes with them to stream at Yoga Vibes.

Take classes online!

In-person classes are suspended. For your safety and that of our instructors, we are targeting late fall for reopening to in-person classes. Meanwhile we are pleased to offer professionally filmed classes with our teachers online! Click here to read about them and get started.

Please sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop about reopening procedures.

Thanks! We will keep you in the loop!
